1.Website incredibly slow 4/10/2019 8:49:33 PM

To be a little fair, Google's pagespeed insights recently re-jigged how it measures pagespeed to account for sites built entirely on complex javascript frameworks like ghost or gatsby, so what was super fast is now just the 50-80 range. It's almost impossible to compete now with the sites that have a large team of developers behind it!

Some of the sites running on Gatsby for example are just preposterously fast-loading: https://www.gatsbyjs.org/showcase/

Now, having said all that – VSL's site is fine, but probably in need of a facelift.

Having said that, as a full-time web dev, the thoughts of rebuilding the product calculate, tied into one's account to show discounts etc, would make me run a mile!

2.Synchron Strings I 11/28/2017 5:28:59 PM

Oh my god you people. I get that it's disappointing and it's natural to be excited for a release like this, but the humans working at VSL have to edit literally maybe 100,000 samples.

I work in tech. When only half of things go wrong it's a good day. That's just the world we live in. VSL have a great track record on this – especially compared to the other large sample company who shall remain nameless – and they're allowed miss 1 deadline by a few days once every 15 years.

Also, remember that you're talking to people, not just a company, who are doing their best to get a probably terrific product to us. Let's be patient.

Now let's all go drink some beer.

3.Quick Q re: Vienna Key licence transfer 7/31/2017 12:37:17 PM

Great, thanks Paul!

4.Quick Q re: Vienna Key licence transfer 7/31/2017 12:07:36 PM

Yo! After almost a decade out of the game (and college!), this hobbyist is back putting together a DAW with all his old software. I have a solid base of purchased VSL software that I always preferred, was pretty much all I ever used and wanted to use, so now that I'm a grown-up I can actually afford to build out my VSL collection. I currently own:

Solo Strings (standard)
Flute 1 (Standard)
Bassoon (Standard)
Special Edition Vol 1
Special Edition Vol 1 Strings Plus

I've ordered a new Vienna Key, the licences on my old key (now defunct) aren't accessible but I'm not sure how to transfer them on to a the new one. Presume it's the same as Steinberg / any software asset management structure where I can just 'cancel' the old key from my account and assign the licences to the new key?

Is this a "Contact Support" job? (I worked in tech support for years – always go out of my way to solve my problems myself or in a forum now!)

Many thanks for any help / advice in advance,

Banquo / Rob

5.A "Vienna Composer Environment" on the horizon? 9/3/2012 9:50:27 PM

There is clearly a demand for such a product, but nobody to date has pulled it off in any truly complete way. It's a tricky one, to be sure.

VSL have most of the seperate 'areas' of the product completed better than anyone on the market, but a cohesive program is nonetheless a mammoth task. Still, if anyone can...

6.A "Vienna Composer Environment" on the horizon? 9/3/2012 7:01:57 AM

I've been convinved for at least a year that this is where they're headed. It's an almost impossible task, but no better team in fairness. So many of the key parts have already been developed by them, as you rightly pointed out.

SOMEONE is going to attempt this at some stage - you know, properly - and it'd be very interesting to see VSL's take on the implementation.

7.BWV 817 4/11/2012 12:56:40 PM

Absolutely super, in fairness.

10.097 STRING QUARTET with demostrations 5/31/2011 8:43:54 AM

Haven't posted in years, but came on to say that I LOVE 091 String Quartet 3. Excellent work, I have to say.

I say yay!

12.Will the VSL choir ever be released? 9/2/2009 3:40:09 AM

I'll give you everything in my pockets right now for what you've got done so far.

It's your move,

13.Music and Vienna Imperial 7/9/2009 3:37:39 PM

I think that the exposition from the 1st movement would be a testament to VSL's repetition patches! :)

If there are special requests, I can "try" and do them, especially if I know them already. Just don't ask for Beethoven's Hammerklavier.

Waldstein! This is iTunes, right?

Beat, I've had a lot of respect for you for a few years now. To help you in any way possible (clean you car?) would be the least I could do for all the help you've given this community in the past.

16.Upgrade path from VSL SE Plus to Extended edition 7/3/2009 4:43:35 PM

CM, I think I understand now the licensing problems.

Do i understand it right: I have the SE dvd version, but I couldn't add the SE extended strings, correct?

But I CAN (and already have) added the SE Strings+, because these licences belong to a different product 'group'? (in the same way that downloading, say, the flute would not interfere with the SE)

17.Facebook group! 7/3/2009 12:28:29 PM

Couldn't contain myself any longer. After being on VSL-haitus for the last few months, I've finally gotten around to making music again and i still can't believe how good these instruments are.

Being a web-savvy college student, I decided to vent my excitement and appreciation by setting up a facebook group. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=98248754165

Enjoy!

That's what I thought. Thank's Beat :)

20.Tutorial 2009 "Successful Music with VSL Products" 7/1/2009 4:53:22 PM

Oh God no! I'm not nearly that good, barely fluent, let alone technical terms!

I mean that, if you wanted, I'd be happy to take your (mostly) english version and make sure that it sounds like an english mother-tongue wrote it. By which I mean take out any grammar errors, keep sentence structure in line with common parlance, etc. Just if you wanted someone to give it a read-through for possible errors, (free of charge, because I got so much from your previous tutorials!)

Either way, you are an inspiration to the best of us Beat - both with your excellent production and with your education.

21.Tutorial 2009 "Successful Music with VSL Products" 6/30/2009 5:07:12 PM

I'm happy to help with a smooth English translation.

I think a VSL-oriented tutorial, properly done, would be in serious demand and a real asset to the community.

22.panning a Baroque chamber piece 6/30/2009 3:26:43 PM

Beat, regarding point 1: Do you mean use seperate instances of the same reverb for both sections, or to run both sections through the same instance?

I.e.

a) Reverb applied to Stings and then another reverb (but the same IR, settings) applied to Winds?, or

b) Reverb set up, run both Strings and Winds through it.

Thanks,

Robert.

I also would love these.

25.VE PRO release date ? 6/3/2009 7:41:48 PM

Where I go to college - just outside of dublin. You think the education would be better...
