1.UPDATE: MAS Version for Vienna Ensemble PRO 5 available 6/24/2015 4:59:42 PM

I've not comprehensively tested it but I opened a file created under DP8.07 that made extensive use of MAS VEPRO without problem in DP9. Also, installing DP9 does not remove DP8 so if there is a problem you can just go back to using DP8.

2.UPDATE: MAS Version for Vienna Ensemble PRO 5 available 3/3/2015 1:26:39 PM

Hi,

Installed the MAS version and changed the plug in preferences as discussed. However, when I open my template or any previous sequences only the shell is loaded, none of the instruments. I can then load my saved metaframe - fine for the template, but for previous sequences, any changes that I made to the metaframe were only saved with the sequence so are to all intense and purpose, lost, unless I revert back to the non-MAS plug in.

Is anyone else having the same problem or could put me right?

Cheers

The word 'bargepole' springs to mind Sad

What sort of person is unimaginative enough to have the same initials for both first and last name anyway?

6.Syncrosoft 5.2.8.2 URGENT WARNING. 4/12/2007 3:00:04 PM
OK - the problem appears to be solved. I re-installed the latest version of the VSI.
I am using DP 5.11 and when I tried to open a file I got an error from Syncrosoft and VSI would not load. I had to force quit - did all the usual - repair permissions/restart. Nothing. Then shut down and restarted - re-installed the lastest version of VSI, repaired permissions and shut down and re-started again. That did the trick. Sorry to panic anyone but thought it better to post a 'beware' early rather than wait for anyone else to hit a problem.
7.Syncrosoft 5.2.8.2 URGENT WARNING. 4/12/2007 2:44:19 PM
I have just downloaded the Korg Digital 1.3.1 install. This updates Syncrosoft to 5.2.8.2 and now I am having VSI problems. My last update from Vienna was for version 5.2.6.2. Take care if you apgrading. Not sure what the problem is - this is just a beware post.

8.using vienna instuments with digital performer 3/30/2007 9:56:34 PM
Go to Library. Open preferences folder. locate and open the digital performer folder. put the audio unit info cache file in the trash.
Now launch digital performer which will go through it's audio unit examination. this will let you know if any audio units are damaged or ok.
Good luck.

Hi,
I have the VSI Cube all extended but I am showing no discount. I do have Vienna Instruments Symphonic Cube don't I?

10.Workflow suggestions? 2/28/2007 3:08:47 PM
Glad you found it useful.

I also found the video tutorials very helpful. And if you can get to one of the live demos - not only do you get to meet other users - and to nick their ideas and techniques - but also seeing VSI played and programmed live set a few light bulbs off in my head too.

Cheers
11.Workflow suggestions? 2/28/2007 2:11:33 PM
For what it's worth I have 2 miditracks per VSI instance. These all go into one folder per section with the '2nd' set going into a second folder within the first. eg - 'Strings Folder' - Violin 1, Violin 2, Viola, Celli and Bass. Then a 'Strings Folder CCs' -Violin 1 CCs, Violin 2 CCs, Viola CCs, Celli CCs and Bass CCs within the 'Strings Folder'.

These folders can be opened and closed as required either together or separately and avoids a cluttered track list.

Any switches or controller info that I record on the first Violin 1 track gets transferred to the Violin 1 CCs track. I can then add additional switches and controller information as required.

This helps me in several ways. When the Violin 1 track goes for copying for playing by a live orchestra you don't have any switch notes, articulation key switches, or controller information creeping into the written score-parts.

Another way I find this method useful is I find it easier to then edit the controller information (such as volume or velocity X-fade on a slider) and/or key switch information without the risk of disturbing the actual 'part'.

I don't say this will work for everyone - or anyone - but it is the best way I have found to date. Confused

On another topic - I have seen other threads where folks are overwhelmed by the size of this library. I too sat and looked at it for a while Big Smile
I have found that saving your own 'basic' set up and then adding matrix and patches to this 'basic' set up lets you grow into this library while making your growing set up backward compatible.

Good luck - and don't panic Big Smile

12.Where is the Bb Trumpet? 2/10/2007 6:40:58 PM
Fair comment JJP. But do deny those of us who do take care and only write when appropriate - it is a little like only making cars that go 55mph because some cannot be trusted not to drive at 140mph all the time. Big Smile
13.Where is the Bb Trumpet? 2/10/2007 1:42:55 PM
Funny - that's what the players say when they see it on a part. Big Smile Check out the Bond scores to hear high note specialist Derek Watkins. Awesome.
14.Where is the Bb Trumpet? 2/9/2007 9:02:22 AM
Because there is a difference in the length of tubing there is a tonal difference. However this isn't really noticeable unless you A/B a Bb and a C trumpet. In other words - when trumpets are used within a track it would be tricky to say which was which. To put this in context it is less noticeable - IMHO - than, say, telling the difference between 'real' and 'sampled'. Same goes for piston and rotary valves. My main concern is the fact that the range sampled/recorded is the 'classical' range ie they stop at 'top C'. Working in film, trumpet parts regularly go an octave above that. I hope that 'one day' VSI will take this into account.

Many thanks. Switched from Safari to Internet Explorer and everything is tickity-boo. Thanks again.
16.Solo Strings manual update 12/10/2006 10:20:26 AM
Hi, Thanks for the update. Is there a way to either print out or save these manuals as a PDF. When I try I just get the page I am on and not the complete document. Cheers.
17.License Control 6/28/2006 4:38:42 PM
If you manage to run more than one key on a computer - please share how you managed it. When I put a second key on a mac the second key shows 'no licenses' in the control center. Put it back to it's own machine and the licenses return.
