1.Country fiddle using solo strings? 10/17/2011 8:39:06 PM
I have solo strings + extended. Any tips? Has anyone actually done this type of mockup anywhere on youtube etc? Something in this type of sound-

The old but cool Liberty Valance record was also a nice mix throughout of mournful fiddle and full strings interplaying-

Maybe I'll just have to drag out my old cheap violin and learn enough country fiddle to get by that way when needed.
2.Unclear about the Vienna Key 5/20/2011 6:17:11 PM

I just did that myself.  Bought a new one to get back on the warranty.  It took me hardly no time at all to complete the move.  You literally just plug both dongles in your computer, and drag and drop the licenses from one to the other inside the elicenser software.  It really is that easy.

Do the keys really sometimes simply give out after a couple of years? Is there really a reason to buy a new one every two years? I have two, mostly just to have solo violins on one computer and Chamber II on another at the same time. One key is from 2009 and the newest is only two or three months old. Both registered here.

Other than if they're stepped on or run over by a truck, do they really just die? Is there a different strategy I should have going here? Maybe a third key sitting around?
3.woodwind guys ..a rock & roll question 3/16/2011 5:45:26 PM
Or pop question maybe. Just so I know, what's the intro instrument playing on the intro at 4 seconds on the old "I Got You Babe" song by Sonny & Cher? Oboe? Bassoon? Something else? And also at 25 seconds? Here's a Youtube page with it ..

Thanks !!!
4.Paul or Stefan - Last minute question on the Holiday promo 1/20/2011 6:11:29 PM
I ordered solo strings on Saturday the 15th and received the FedEx delivery on Wednesday. Registered the dvd set online and am now waiting for the codes for the extended. Looking forward to working with these and this was a great promo. I think a lot of the guys may have been out here in California for Namm, so I figure it'll be a day or so for the codes.
5.We are so naïve about VSL prices 1/20/2011 4:07:21 PM
Well, I hope their numbers are high enough (and go higher) to invest in the equipment/studio/fantastic musicians they use/pay the staff/Herb enough to make for a comfortable living ... so that they'll want to continue doing all this.

By the way Herb, I'm still waiting for my extended solo strings codes from the promo. Sent a note to tech yesterday..... I REALLY want to get going with these .... so that I can buy more in the future of course !
6.Paul or Stefan - Last minute question on the Holiday promo 1/15/2011 10:28:07 PM
Cool, thanks Herb. Ordered it and it's on the way. This is a really nice promotion for these bad economic times. Looking forward to finally working with the solo strings !
7.Paul or Stefan - Last minute question on the Holiday promo 1/15/2011 7:07:47 PM
I sent a message to sales but figure I'll post here too since time is running out. I'm ordering the Solo Strings today (Saturday January 15) from the reseller I use in the US. I'll have the receipt in a bit, but the dvd package won't arrive at my door for 5-6 days. Since I can't register until the dvd gets here, will I still be able to take advantage of getting the extended solo strings in the promo? I own the Chamber Strings II and extended now. Let me know. Thanks !
8.Probably a no-brainer question for you who know strings 10/26/2010 7:58:38 PM
I have the Chamber II and am about to buy the Solo Strings 1. I also have other things from Kirk Hunter etc. Anwyway, for $119, I thought about also grabbing this NI Session Strings for what it can do-

http://www.youtube.com/w...aF6LKn8aQCFQQCbAodT0eczw

...but then thought, maybe the vsl I have/will have can do that anyway with some imaginative programming. Is that the case? Or for $119, should I just spring too for the NI ?
9.Which strings for the studio setup in this video ? 8/24/2010 8:35:30 PM
I have Chamber Strings II so far and I'm trying to decide whether solo strings 1 or Chamber Strings 1 are better for mockups of this type. Some of the demos around here for Solo Strings almost sound better for this type than Chamber but I just don't know. I don't see Appasionatta as fitting this at all. The string arrangement here also reminds me a bit of some Simon Hale things I like.

What do you experts think would be the better choice for me to get this type of effect ?

By the way, check out the riff Randall plays just before starting. Kinda funny.
