Best Rainer

I'm wondering the same.... seems odd to suddenly take a bundle of and split them out into separate licenses?

2.Euphonix MC Control as a controller for VI? 12/4/2009 9:48:06 AM

Sounds good, are you enjoying the Control?

3.VE 3 - Impossible to use hardware outputs? / How to access more than 16 midi ports? 4/5/2009 10:30:05 AM

I have to say I'm with Fritz - would be wonderful to have a half-VE3 setup - so the instruments and settings are saved within the project, yet those of us with big audio rigs (MADI here) could still use hardware I/O with all its advantages of exceptionally low latency and so on. VE2 is fantastic and rock solid, but for more complex arrangements it's a pain to have to save not only the Nuendo project file, but also the three VE2 templates per cue...

I have a Kurzweil PC88 which has very nice faders on it.

As the thread suggests, I mean the MC Control. :)

I have no idea wether Logic will allow it or not, that´s why I´m asking. How is it in Nuendo, can´t you "user-assign" the MC Control to any control you wish?

Just wanted to double check as I have come across a few people who have got confused between them. I'm afraid I have no experience of either the Control or EuCon running under Logic - I run an MC Pro with Nuendo on a PC. Yes you can assign almost anything to the buttons, but the faders and knobs on the Pro have very specific uses - it's not really designed as a surface to be used for MIDI control, more to control the DAW itself. May be worth asking Euphonix if it can be done... or Apple.

Assuming that Logic will allow you to send MIDI Controllers from the MC's surface, then you'll be fine. In Nuendo at least it doesn't, so I do all my VI controllers from the sliders on my master keyboard.

That's why you have car insurance - if someone steals your car, and you own the original sales invoice, get a police report, and then get all the CCTV footage of it being stolen, will Ford give you a new car....???

iLok offers replacement insurance, but not Syncrosoft. I don't think my insurance plan covers software.

'ello old bean, fancy meeting you over here ;)

iLok's insurance only covers the software of participating companies - which is relatively few...

Not sure my company is going to help you much Jasen, as I'm in the UK.... I have been through several insurers in the last fifteen years, and not one has yet had any issue with it whatsoever. Perhaps it's a problem that's specific to the US market, but I'd find that unlikely.

Remember, you're not insuring the dongle, you're insuring the product licence held within.

Customer - "Hello Mr Insurer, I'd like to insure my copy of Nuendo for £1,500 and my VSL Libraries for £12,000 please"

Insurer - "Hello, that'll be £500"

Customer - "Thankyou"

Edited to add - Hiscox / Hencilla Canworth / Doodson / Palladium etc....

As some have pointed out, convincing an insurance company to issue a policy for an inexpensive USB dongle for many thousands of dollars because said dongle contains expensive software licences may not be easy. Listing potential sources  for such insurance in various countries would be helpful.

I have never listed a dongle on my company insurance - I am however required to list anything of value. Thus, as pertained to in the EULA of my various sample libraries and plugins, not to mention my DAW software (which being Nuendo is also held on a Syncrosoft key) are all denoted as covered in the insurance. Therefore if my Syncrosoft or iLok dongles were stolen or damaged, the insurance company would replace those products that it held - the fact that it holds only the "licence" for a product is immaterial.

Likewise, anyone running a Windows OS on a PC bought from a shop or common OEM supplier would find the licence key to their OS on a sticker attached to the computer - you don't own the software, you are licenced to use it, just like a sample library. If someone then makes off with that computer, even if you have the original disc, the lack of that licence sticker and its denoted code means you need to replace it.... there's really very little material difference between this and a sample library, plugin or other dongled software.

14.Bricast Reverb with VSL 7/9/2008 1:12:20 PM

Heathcliff - why would someone who has spent £10,000+ on VSL want to put it through a free reverb, and not something higher quality?!

15.Alitverb Experts: clarify a few things for me please :) 7/9/2008 1:11:17 PM

Erm.... I use Altiverb, periodically, but my main reverbs are VSS3 and VSS4 (soft and hardware respectively) - what is it you don't like about the TC reverbs?!

dsstudio wrote:

yes, agree, but tell me how do you feel if they offer you that? do you feel anything special or just say "no thanks I'll buy it"?

Common, I did not ask for free socks, I am asking the feel good factor man :)

I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand? How do I feel when they offer me another great product? I'm very happy, and if I want it, I buy it! Considering that over the last five years I have had countless free Christmas Gigastudio libraries, the frankly enormous upgrade discounts at the launch of the Symphonic Cube, and pre-order discounts on subsequent additional libraries, I would feel a complete charlatan to demand they give me more!

18.VE3 Should be NOT be free 5/13/2008 8:16:06 PM

What is it with the world today? Next we'll be asking VSL for free socks to go with our libraries.....

I have the Pro Edition, Performace Set, Full Cube, and all the subsequent libraries bar the Special Edition. More than happy to give VSL a few pennies (by comparison) for yet another bit their hard work and effort.

19.Long time member, newbie question :P 4/27/2008 7:13:32 PM

Drop me an email Peter and we'll chat it through. Long time no hear, hope you're well. As you know, what you're trying to do is precisely what my rig is set up to do!

20.VE3 memory allocation on 64 bit systems? 4/15/2008 12:07:21 PM
It's not beta, the confusion over "preview" comes from the fact that some things aren't working - like the third-party plugins for example. The actual engine works just fine.
21.VE3 memory allocation on 64 bit systems? 4/15/2008 10:03:53 AM
Cubase has been 64-bit for six months or so.....
22.Christmas for those who've already invested in the Cube? 12/11/2007 11:38:15 AM

Isn't that a little harsh chaps? VSL rewarded those who pre-ordered or were early adopters of the Cube, which is fair enough, and since then, many if not all of the additionally libraries have been released with offers for Cube owners to get the extended versions either totally free or at a hugely reduced price. Compared to other manufacturers who seem to slash prices at will, I think we've been very well supported.

To put it into perspective, I purchased another library a couple of years ago for something over 3000GBP. Six weeks later it was available for 1800GBP and currently it can be picked up for 600GBP... whereas someone who buys the Cube today pays the same as I did when I pre-ordered it.... sounds a whole lot more fair to me!

23.VE MIDI still not working when loading 3+ GB of samples (Update w/ details for VSL team) 11/28/2007 1:39:50 PM

Sorry to hear you're still stuck Richard, depsite threads on here and ViC.  :( This seems daft in the extreme, it should be working. I'm not sure I can see why it works for me and not for you (XPP x64, RME HDSP cards, VE) but the only difference I can think of is I'm running the full cube, not SE...... dunno..... feel free to drop me a line if you want to have another go at thrashing this out.

24.Choir Samples 11/21/2007 11:06:33 PM
Giovani from BelaDMedia is purely Boys and Girls choirs (separately), and is available in Kontakt format.
25.Routing to Reverb in Cubase from Slave Machine Running VE 11/19/2007 4:39:30 PM
