No, Colin, she has paws and I'll send her right over just as soon as she stops helping herself to my refreshing toilet water.

What? Surprise

A toilet?? Surprise

With water in it??? Surprise

So, we're in the Executive Ward, are we?

Posh git!!

WTF is she doing typing with your toes?   Doesn't she have any fingers?  This is patient abuse!

Anyway, send her to cell 15A after you've finished with her or I'll tell Matron.

yes, good sir, you are quite correct I am of no fixed temperament.   Just as the semi-animal-object hero of Kafka's story "The Cares of a Family Man" was "of no fixed abode" and resembled "a flat star-shaped spool of thread, and indeed it does seem to have thread wound upon it; to be sure, they are only old, broken-off bits of thread, knotted and tangled together, of the most varied sorts and colors. But it is not only a spool, for a small wooden crossbar sticks out of the middle of the star, and another small rod is joined to that at a right angle. By means of this latter rod on one side and one of the points of the star on the other, the whole thing can stand upiright as if on two legs.  One is tempted to believe that the creature once had some sort of intelligible shape and is now only a broken-down remnant.  Yet this does not seem to be the case: at least there is no sign of it; nowhere is there an unfinished or unbroken surface to suggest anything of the kind; the whole thing looks senseless enough, but in its own way perfectly finished. In any case, closer scrutiny is impossible, since ODRADEK is extraordinarily nimble and can never be laid hold of.

Well.........yes.  Can't find much to disagree with there.

William wrote:

Well..........yes again. At least not until my supplier is released from custody.

William wrote:

I personally would love to be held captive in Guy Bacos domicile and be forced to listen to all his demos.  That would be very pleasant and inspiring.

I quite agree William. It is the sheer quantity, not the quality to
which I refer, so if you intend following the progress of the USA in
the World Cup, I'd suggest steering clear of Canada for the foreseeable future.

However, if you do encounter Monsieur Bacos, and he invites you to
listen to his demos over a cup of tea and some biscuits,  your best course of action might be to grab his garibaldis and get the hell out of there.
You'll then be able to nibble away to your heart's content and watch the football (soccer).

Dear Mr Connelly

I am obligated to inform you that we have taken instruction from a Mr W. Kersten (of no fixed temperament).

We take exception to your unbridled attack on William.

Short of the inclusion of a link to one of his own tunes, there is nothing whatsoever offensive in our client's latest post.

We would ask you to withdraw your remarks forthwith. Failure to comply will result in one of the following;

1) The electric chair followed by the guillotine with a damned good horsewhipping as an encore

or

2) Being held captive in the domicile of a M.Guy Bacos and forced to listen to every demo he's ever made (tea and biscuits optional).

There's an easy way and a hard way. We strongly recommend withdrawing your remarks or going for option 1).....

Dear Patient

I have to admit that I have certain reservations about continuing your treatment, not solely because your last cheque (or check to keep the spelling simple) bounced,  but because you seem determined to go public re your "condition".

As your Doctor, I am obliged to question the wisdom of this decision. Whilst there are other Doctors out there that may claim to be better qualified in treating your ailment, I can guarantee you that I have at least three weeks experience in your field.

What happened with that sheep had nothing to do with me. The fact that I spent three weeks in your field is entirely coincedental. Any photographic evidence that suggests otherwise should be treated with the greatest scepticism.

Now, I should point out (and this will cost you $142) that you are a very confused man. I quite clearly pointed out in a previous post that I was diagnosed as suffering from TriPOPular disorder, not Tripolar which I am deeply suspicious is an illness that you just made up as you continue your descent down the spiral of denial. (Anyone looking for a lyricist?)

You have to deal with these issues(That'll be $273 thankyou) and deal with them head on.

Unlike that sheep in your field.

BTW, like William, I also suffer from a bipolar disorder.

Hey Jasensmith

I feel compelled to remind you that the VSL Community is  dedicated to discussion and debate on purely musical matters.

Revelations regarding your own personal mental health issues should from now on be restricted to the likes of the fora on madbastard.com.

But since you started...

Bipolar?

You lucky ****!

I'll have you know..

....as a 15 year old I was diagnosed as suffering from Tripopular Disorder.

Yes, TRIpopular.

Think you've had it tough? BIpolar?  Boo hoo hoo hoo.

You'll no doubt be thinking of googling "Tripopular Disorder" to gain a better understanding of it. Yes?

Well........ I'll save you the bother.

Tripopular Disorder is a condition you suffer from when there's only three people on the planet that like you.

In my case..my mother, my sister and my mother.

That was when I was 15.

Sadly, all four of them hate me now.

jasensmith wrote:
Hey Jasensmith, you don't even own Solo strings so who the hell cares what you think?

Well.........I would imagine your Mother cares.

You've obviously got some serious issues to deal with so I'll wish you all the best.

Good luck

7.Routing - Logic 8 and VE 2 9/30/2009 4:45:27 PM

If all 16 instruments are playing open your VE. Open Instrument 1 and check that you have 1 Midi Plugin selected  in "MIDI In" for all 16. Instrument 1 should be on channel 1 and so on up to Inst 16 which should be on Channel 16.

The easiest way to do this is when you open a new VE select 1Midi Plugin and channel 1 for Instrument 1. Now press Insert Instrument 15 times for a full VE and the channels will increment automatically. Hope this helps.

Souchi - you should have 16 VE tracks in the arrange window. Those are the tracks you record in.

Christian knows his stuff Errikos and I've only ever had one Mac at a time, so I can't say what benefit you might get. There would certainly be no harm  in trying.

I notice in the AU Manager that both Altiverb and Vienna Suite are available though I have no idea yet whether VS would still be available if used in VE Pro ( still to download it and purchase Snow L ). The minimum requirement for a node machine I believe is a single 1Ghz processor so your 2.16 could theoretically take a fair bit of load of your main macs cpu.

Hopefully CM or one of the team can give you the "Truth"!

Hi Errikos

Sorry if I got your hopes up for nothing. I had just been referring to the early Mac Pros which I had read in a few forums would need an upgrade to run any 64bit apps. Thankfully Martin and Christian put things straight, well fortunately for me anyway.

Would your iMac be of no use to you as a Logic Node machine?

I'll have a look for the forums and a Mac video mag that say we're out of luck. Would naturally like to think you're right Martin!

In my comments I forgot about the early Core Duo chips. I have - what was an expensive iMac which will be gathering Internet dust sporting that chip, but I don't understand your comment about an "upgrade"... You mean that it would be possible to make a Core Duo chip work in 64 bits

Yes - this has been posted in several mac forums. Apple, if they so choose, can provide an upgrade to the firmware that will allow the Core Duo based Mac Pros to run in 64bit. Here's hoping..

No waiting or mercy needed. VE Pro runs fine even under Leopard in 64-bit on any Core2Duo or more recent Intel Mac. In fact, it will run in 64-bit even on PPC, even if we don't officially support it.

Hi Martin

Thanks for the reply and a brief glimmer of hope!

Unfortunately the early Mac Pros have CoreDuo rather than Core2Duo processors and have seen it stated with some authority that they won't be able to run 64bit apps unless Apple do provide an upgrade.   Crying

17.Pilot video project on sample-orchestration from a piano part 9/22/2009 2:04:49 PM

I think this would be of interest to a great many Guy.

It would be good to be able to watch one of the accomplished users of the Library in action. I'm sure a lot of useful information on technique and working practices could be gleaned from such a video. I'd suggest some emphasis on the use of controllers and automation of the instruments and effects.

"Free" sounds good to me but would have no problem forking out if not!  Go for it.

Hi Tom

With the exception of your Ensemble I'm running an identical system so will also be interested in any feedback re upgrading to Logic 9/Snow Leopard.

Hopefully it will improve performance some and make up for the fact that our "64bit" Macs will be unable to run in 64bit mode unless Apple provide our 2-3 year old antiques with a firmware upgrade.

Was looking forward to overcoming the memory limitation with VE Pro but we now appear to be at the mercy of Apple- I'm sure they'd rather we bought a new machine. Sad

20.Question about Chamber strings 1 9/20/2009 7:15:43 PM

I found one that uses the Chambers from the SE Extended- you get more artics with CS1 Standard obviously.

Thanks alot,shouldve seen that!
Also do you know if there are demos of just the standard chamber strings 1? Thanks

Hi Daithi,

I'd imagine that the demos use both the Standard and Extended libraries.

Unless someone points you in the direction of a piece recorded with only the Standard, you'll have to judge for yourself whether the articulations that come with it are sufficient for your needs until you can afford the full set.

A lot of good user demos using only Standard libraries have been posted in the forum. Hopefully someone knows where one for the Chambers is hiding.  Smile

VI is 64bit compatible but there's no playing around without your Vienna Key.

23.Reinstalling system OSX 9/15/2009 12:44:23 PM

Hi Pavel

If VI is unable to find your libraries, run the Directory Manager, delete it's contents then drag the folders of your Vienna Instruments libraries from your Hard Drives directly into the DM. You may want to restart your computer - should do the trick.
