1.Project crashes VE Pro 8/8/2011 2:08:47 PM
Have you tried using the De-couple function?
It might not be this issue but my system used to crash on loading a session because kontakt and Play were loading simultaniously when Ve Pro was Coupled to Protools,with De-Couple activated your Daw no longer loads or saves automatically you load and save everything in Ve Pro manually.
2.When loading PLAY 3.0.15 the samples load twice. EW is aware of the problem and say it only ha... 8/8/2011 1:51:57 PM
Any news on this issue re samples double loading in Play 3 in Ve Pro?
Is this happening across the board with P3 and Ve Pro?

Im about to update Play and Ve Pro,but I need to know first.

3.Vienna ensemble pro and kontakt midi chanels 9/25/2010 1:41:03 PM
Hi,

No,You can load 16 instruments in one instance of Kontakt.

Load kontakt,then drag and drop the instruments into Kontakts main window,(see manual and videos,..hint,hint)
A seperate midi channel is usually assigned incrementaly as you add each instrument.
In Ve Pro set the midi port to 'Vienna Ensemble Pro midi port 1' and set midi channel to 'omni'.(see manual)
===============================================================================================
each time you add a new instance of Kontakt you assign different Ve Pro midi port to that instance,for example a 2nd instance of Kontakt would be assigned to 'midi port 2' another instance 'midi port 3 and so on ,In Protools you can assign 64 ports (32 ports in 32bit server and another 32ports in 64bit server add 64 instances in just one instance of V Pro! thats 512 instruments in one instance of Ve Pro,again thats in Protools!

4.Optimal Core Settings 9/18/2010 12:41:05 AM
Hi ,

you wrote,..'4 instances 4 threads per',I presume you mean 2 threads per instance?,leaving the remaining 7 threads for sequencer and 1 for OS? In the manual it mentions '8 threads 1 instance ,4 threads 2 instances' 2 threads for 4 instances and so on ,..or am I confused?

5.My latest VE Pro workflow -- using "decouple" with ProTools -- working great! 9/16/2010 8:17:19 PM
Thanks,..just noticed that,oops!

How are you finding VI Pro?are you using the demo any issues with other libraries or is all running smooth?

(I would like to update to the latest version but my system is working so well Ver.6150.)Dean.
6.My latest VE Pro workflow -- using "decouple" with ProTools -- working great! 9/16/2010 8:06:54 PM
HI,
Decouple is the way to go!Thats how I work in Protools too,so far works great!I also agree with the suggestions re empty VE Pro instances and the unwanted prompts when loading a project.
==============================================================================================================================
Jeremy,what version of Ve Pro are you using?

7.newest VE Pro causing demos to be used b/c of VI Pro 9/15/2010 1:49:06 AM
Hi Paul,

Im still using VE Pro Ver.6150 for this reason and my system is working brilliantly at the moment,I simply stated that I would like to wait untill any issues with VI Pro are sorted before updating and purchasing but I wanted to keep up to date with the latest version of Ve Pro.
==================================================================================================================================
If you read my first post you'll see that I'm not interested in the demo starts at all,I was actually responding to the original poster who was concerned about the demos.I have no other VI demos,(actually I've never downloaded a demo version of any library ever,for example Ve Pro looked amazing so I just bought it.)

Re: 'plans with the demo-starts'(I'm not sure what you mean,could you elaborate?)

8.newest VE Pro causing demos to be used b/c of VI Pro 9/14/2010 12:14:25 PM

Hi,just wanted to bump this,..Karel,Paul?,Thanks again for your help.

re Ve Pro:I am very wary of updating Ve Pro (latest version) because of the bundled Vi Pro demo,also since VI Pros release I have noticed a lot of threads re issues and compatibility etc,.It seemed that with VE Pro(V.6150)all seemed well. =================================================================================================================================== IS there a way to update VE Pro without the Vi Pro demo,or is the Vi Pro demo installation optional when insatlling the latest update? If not,could we have an update without the VI Pro demo,as I mentioned Ver 4.0.6150 is working like a dream at the moment and Im hearing lots of issues on the forum re Vi Pro and Kontakt 4.1 etc. Thanks,Dean.
9.newest VE Pro causing demos to be used b/c of VI Pro 9/13/2010 7:21:17 PM
Hey,
Of course you dont own it,thats why its a demo,I think it is mentioned that Vi Pro(30 x usage)demo comes with the latest VE PRo update,so everytime you open Ve Pro with Vi Pro loaded as default it counts as a use,However I do agree that Vi Pro should not be loaded by default and I also think that the Vienna instruments should not be loaded by default,..an empty VE PRo instance,Im pretty sure thats what most users want.

10.G5 as slave computer 9/13/2010 2:06:57 PM
Hi Roberto,
I am about to do the same thing,I now use a Mac Pro 8core and I have an old G5 sitting around gathering dust.
=================================================================================================================================
Are you using Ve Pro aswell as Vi Pro?
You need to uninstall Tiger and install Leopard on your G5 then you could run Ve Pro 32bit version and some of your 32bit sample libraries like PLAY on your G5.
After installing Leopard, you need to install VE Pro on your G5,..If you want to run VE PRo on both systems at the same time you also need a second Steinberg/Vienna key for your G5 and use your second Ve Pro license(you get 3 licenses with each purchase of VE Pro)
I know some programmes are not officially supported but apparently they run very well on ppc Macs.
=================================================================================================================================
re starting to use 64bit: on your Mac book use VE Pro 64 bit server for all your 64bit libraries and 32 bit,you can use both 64 and 32bit on your Mac book at the same time,it works brilliantly!
================================================================================================================================
The advantages are obvious,...you now have 2 Macs sharing the load!More CPU more RAM!
================================================================================================================================
My tip:
Im also not a technician so I get a local Pro Audio company to install and test everything,if you buy the software and bring your G5 to them they will set it all up for you for a small fee,its well worth it and you also have good support if anything goes wrong.

11.Spectrasonics instruments and multitimbral performance 9/5/2010 7:19:39 PM
I use Omnisphere and Stylus in 64bit works great,as suggested,you should open a seperate VEPro instance for each Spectrasonics library,I dont think theres a limit to the amount of instances you can open,your system will dictate that limit for you.
(Just remember to assign the right amount of threads per instance.)leaving the rest for your Sequencer and a thread or two for your OS.

12.Setting up Stylus & Omnisphere in VE Pro 8/17/2010 12:06:49 AM
HI rosindabow,

Omnisphere,Stylus work exactly like all other multi timbral instruments.
IN VE PRO YOU HAVE TO ASSIGN A SEPERATE MIDI PORT TO EACH MULTI-TIMBRAL INSTRUMENT SUCH AS OMNISPHERE or KONTAKT and set MIDI to OMNI!.In your sequencer you HAVE to assign each midi track to a seperate midi channel all assigned to the SAME MIDI PORT for that instrument.YOU HAVE TO SET IT UP THIS WAY TO AVOID INSTRUMENTS BEING TRIGGERED ON OTHER TRACKS!
=================================================================================================================================
in VE Pro main GUI you assign a port (for example:'Vienna Ensemble Pro 1 1')to the Omnisphere instrument and leave midi channel on 'Omni'.
=================================================================================================================================
In your host sequencer create 8 midi tracks and assign each midi Channel to 'Vienna Ensemble Pro 1 1' > Midi Channel 1 - 8 respectively.
=================================================================================================================================
the midi setup for DP is clearly demonstrated with lots of screen shots in the VE PRO pdf Manual,you have also started another thread earler that I responded to explaning the Ve Pro midi ports in more detail..please take the time to read the replies and the manual and search other threads,before posting.

Dean.
13.In PLAY there are 9 outputs.(1-2/3-4 etc) can I route these each back in to Cubase individually... 8/16/2010 5:21:00 PM
Yes,you can assign indiviual audio outs in Play GUI and assign them to audio inputs in your Sequencer.
14.What is an efficient and optimum audio port setting in VE Pro? 8/16/2010 5:04:17 PM
you mentioned Kontakt4?which is 64bit.Also you mentioned using Protools which allows you to use 32 ports by 16 midi channels per Ve Pro instance,Im not familar with DP.

Re Protools: you can add multible instances of your instruments,..if you wanted your string template to have 32 string articulations all you have to do is load two Kontakt,UAudio,Waves instances assigned to a port each set to omni then in Protools set up 32 midi channels assigned to Ve Pros ports and channels.
===================================================================================================================================
re reinstating: Method one::open Ve Pro server(s)> open presaved metaframe > open Dp/Protools.
Method two:open server(s) > open Sequencer > if VE PRo is 'DE-COUPLED' click on empty VE Pro instance GUI and go to file and 'open project'(NOTE:in Ve Pro when you save a Project it saves the one instance of Ve Pro as a 'viframe')this will load the instance and settings.click Ve Pro server 'interface'(not server)click on saved viframe in server window and click'connect',
===================================================================================================================================
if VE Pro is not de-coupled then the instances(viframes) should load automatically when you open your sequencers session,project.
15.Brand new user - very confused ... cannot find plugins -how to re-scan system? 8/16/2010 4:21:38 PM
RE working methods:In just one instance of Ve Pro you can open (max)32 instances of Kontakt,Spectrasonics,Play etc and with 16 midi channels per instance of Kontakt,Play etc,thats 512 instruments all in one instance of Ve Pro!!
===================================================================================================================================
Each time you load an instance of Kontakt,Play etc,into one Ve Pro instance you assign its midi port (1 -16)and leave the midi channel set to 'Omni'and in Protools instrument track midi inputs you click on (for example)> 'VE PRO 1 1' > midi 'channel 1-16'
You can assign the number of midi ports to '32' per server so if you have the 32bit server open for Play and the 64bit server open for Kontakt/Spectrasonics that would be 32 ports each by 16 midi channels,thats 1024 channels/instuments!!
===================================================================================================================================
My advice is open 32bit server for Play and 64bit server for Kontakt,then open Protools with 2 instaces of VE Pro (32 and 64bit)in Protools,once you set up the VE Pro ports and your midi inputs in protools as described above you could load as much as your system will allow.
===================================================================================================================================
try set Protools threads(cores) to 3(leaving 1 for OS,the remaining 4 threads are for Ve Pro)and buffer to 512 and CPU usage to 99%.
LOAd PLay first then Kontakt!Set play voices to '512' and engine to 'Low'.
16.What is an efficient and optimum audio port setting in VE Pro? 8/16/2010 3:36:04 PM
HI,
in VE Pro the number of audio ports are endless and dont effect the CPU,they're for routing,bouncing,mixing etc,
For FX routing:You could insert an instance of PLay or Kontakt(for example load only percussion instruments)then you could assign that instruments outputs(in the Ve Pro 'Snd' tab) to 'Net3/Net4' and in your host sequencer(Protools/Logic) create an Aux input(insert FX,EQ) and assign its audio inputs to 'Net3/Net4'.This way you can apply and control seperate reverb,EQ for each section of the orchestra.
You could also create a stereo audio track assigned to the same audio outputs and bounce,record to that track,this is ideal for recording sub-mixes or stems for each section or instrument.
===================================================================================================================================
Try set the Ve Pro buffer to '2'(default).0 buffers strains the CPU!
You have a Mac Quadcore,..1 core = 2 threads so you have 8 threads,..try use 4 threads for VE Pro and remember to keep about 4 threads(2 x cores) for DAW and OS.
Why do you need 4 instances of VE Pro? You could load the 4 (orchestral sections)into one or two instances( 4 threads for one instance or 2 threads for two instances)
===================================================================================================================================
What Sequencer are you using?...Are you using PLay?...Are you using 32bit and 64bit server?
This info is very important.

17.Ve Pro or Omnisphere/Stylus bug? 8/14/2010 11:38:33 AM
Hi Karel'

thats great news,when is the update being released?

Dean.
18.VE Pro: Save instances as preserved? 8/13/2010 7:36:45 PM
how about opening the blank server(not the Metaframe)then the Logic project then opening the metaframe last?this should stop the double loading.
19.VE Pro, please point me in the right direction! 8/13/2010 5:45:08 PM
Thats the way it works with viframes,if you have the Ve Pro instances 'decoupled' the blank instances open but they dont load automatically when you open your project,also you MUST save each instance or viframe manually before closing your project or changes to your templates will be lost.
(For 'Viframes'launch server(s)open your host session/project,this automatically opens the blank Ve Pro instance(s)you then click 'File'(menu bar) and click 'open project' to load the viframe for each instance.)
===================================================================================================================================
RE METAFRAMES:Maybe the Metaframe opens the blank instances but does'nt load them automatically when they are decoupled.
Have you tried 'Un-decoupling' the instances just before closing your project?
then reopen the server(s)and open the metaframe,this should open and LOAD all instances on that server automaticlly.
(I dont use metaframes yet or Logic so Im guessing here)
20.VE Pro: Save instances as preserved? 8/13/2010 4:58:42 PM
Hi ,Yes,for example if you have a session open with a number of Ve Pro instances you can click on the server and you should see all your named instances then click 'File'(menu bar)and 'save as Metaframe'
You can save the Metaframe on your desktop or wherever you like and launch all your instances with just one click.

21.Ve Pro or Omnisphere/Stylus bug? 8/13/2010 4:39:35 PM
Hey Ashermusic,

thats interesting,I must post this over at Spectrasonics aswell see if its a bug that can be sorted.

22.Ve Pro or Omnisphere/Stylus bug? 8/13/2010 11:24:34 AM
Hi Karel,

could be,this only happens when I delete a patch in Omnisphere and Stylus and get a 'caution' prompt from VE Pro,then VE Pro says to check if Key is installed correctly,..cant find license.
Is there anyway to clear a patch in Omnisphere/Stylus without getting the Ve Pro 'Caution'promt?

thanks,
Dean.

24.Ve Pro or Omnisphere/Stylus bug? 8/11/2010 11:10:50 AM
Anyone out there?

Thanks,Dean.
25.Ve Pro or Omnisphere/Stylus bug? 8/10/2010 5:36:55 PM
HI,

Ive noticed that using 64bit server in the Ve Pro instance GUI when I clear a patch in Omnisphere or Stylus RMX I get the following prompt from Ve Pro 'Caution' 'Clear Patch?' etc,..I click 'ok' then if I go to save the Ve Pro project I get a pop up saying 'COULD NOT FIND LICENSE FOR VE PRO.PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT YOUR VIENNA KEY IS CONNECTED...AND YOU HAVE THE LATEST VERSION OF CONTRL CENTRE INSTALLED, THEN RESTART...ETC'
if I close and restart server I can open and save projects as normal but if I clear a patch it happens again and again?

This only happens in Omnisphere and Stylus using Ve Pro 64 bit server and instance so Im not sure where the fault lies,any ideas?
