1.Introducing the new High Definition Shorts with 9 velocity layers for the entire Symphonic Cube 3/24/2023 1:42:00 PM

As a Symphonic Cube owner, I am highly intrigued by this. So, is there a way a Pro Tools user, who run VE in standalone mode on separate machines, can get his to work?

Best,

Gaute

2.Synchron Strings PRO und Strings I (optimized) 2/4/2022 10:05:35 AM

I wish you would make an optimized versions of the short articulations only from the original library. This is where you really want the extra dynamic layers;)

3.Folder tracks VE7 1/4/2022 11:24:45 AM

Thanks:)

4.Folder tracks VE7 1/4/2022 10:38:50 AM

How do you remove tracks from a folder in VE 7?

5.Disk management 10/12/2021 7:25:23 PM

My main sample server (Windows 10) ha 12 SSDs, around 10 terrabytes, but they are all starting to fill up. In order to make room for new stuff, I have decided to to put the libraries I never use on external drives. What is the best way to organice the vacant space on the disk after deleting. Is it ok and safe to run"Defragment and Optimize Drives" in win 10, or are there more sophisticated solutions?

6.Vel FX in Synchronized Dimension Strings 8/27/2020 5:10:13 PM

I found it;)

But, there are so many cells to change. Is there a way to group a column and then do the edit?

7.Vel FX in Synchronized Dimension Strings 8/27/2020 2:41:04 PM

Edit. Think I found it under the individual players. Bit of work, but only once;)

Just got the Synchronized dim strings. As the original in one of my absolute favourite string libraries, I was looking forward to use the new mastered and better organized samples. In many ways they are better, but I still consider going back to the old, because I can not find a way to set up the short notes to be controlled by velocity and the longs by a cc on a permanent basis. You have the global on/off velfx switch (cc28,) but seriously, it is not an elegant solution having to insert a separate midi message in to be allowed to use the most efficient dynamic control for any given articulation. It is a complete workflow killer. Hopefully, there is something I have not figured out. Or is it really meant to be this way?

8.Velocity crossfade behaviour in Syncron Percussion 2/25/2019 8:58:52 AM

Thank you for answering.

I guess I can live with having to switch vxf on and off, although it´s not ideal.

Gaute

9.Velocity crossfade behaviour in Syncron Percussion 2/24/2019 7:41:54 PM

I love the sound of this collection, but, except for the timpani, where vxf is behaving normally, I have trouble playing cc 2 controlled rolls.

In the bass drum, for instance, when I turn on vxf, it affects the starting dynamic of the roll, anc there is no change when I move the cc2 slider. Only if I retrigger the roll, it will play a static dynamic from vhere the slider is at the moment. That is quite weird, and I hope I have done something wrong, that it´s not the intention...

What I want to do is to have the dynamics of all singe hits and recorded dynamics controlled by velocity, and dynamics of the long rolls controlled by a continous cotroller. Ideally without having to switch that controller on and off. Is this possible?

This is the way things work in ALL my other percussion libraries.

10.Routing in Synchron pianos 1/16/2019 8:30:17 PM

Thanks a lot, it worked;)

11.Routing in Synchron pianos 1/16/2019 12:46:47 PM

I have the Yamaha full library. In the mix window, I can select 9 different stereo outputs, but they will all go to the same bus in VE pro, and be summed back to a single stereo signal.

I find this in the manual, but I can only select Synchron Piano stereo in th VE channel browser. Have I bade e mistake in the installation or something? Should I set up VE pro differently?

Surround Presets (Full Library – visible for surround plug-ins) Full flexibility for your surround setup with your Full Library. Send the close, mid and decca tree to your main L-R speakers, and your surround microphones to your surround channels accordingly.

I guess I should add that I use VE pro on my slaves in standalone mode Midi over lan, audio through a mixer.

I need to deliver somehing broken down in different  microphones quite soon;)

Cool, thanks a lot;)

13.Bought! 10/17/2017 1:11:13 PM

I don´t think one mic per stand is very unusual for soundstage recordings... I have had music recorded with just stereo front and back of the section, one per stand, and even one dpa per instrument, in addidion to the section mics... (very useful for pizzicati;)

Anyway this is no critcism, (I have already bought the thing), I´m just curious  And my question is still unanswered: How do you use the mono close mic? Is it a single mic picking up mainly the section leader, or a mono mixdown of several spotmics?

Best,

Gaute

14.Bought! 10/16/2017 6:07:10 PM

Hi.

I´m still a bit confused, not by the main mics, but by the mono close mic. How can you get close to all the 14 1st violin players with one microphone? Is it a mono downmix of the typical one mic per stand-setup? Aren´t those usually fanned out a bit? Or is it a spot mic of the section leader? Or something else?

Best,

Gaute

15.Impulse Response Cache Size 4/10/2015 8:56:07 AM

Hi.

Does this mean that MIR is not reading from disk while it is playing back music? So that it does,´t matter if the impulse responses reside on a slow or fast disk (other than for setup-time?)

17.Second Clarinet 8/21/2013 7:42:27 PM

The Eb clarinet is a different beast. Personally I do not care too much for it´s sound, although i has it´s uses. I have never asked for it when I have written for orchestra. But a 2nd clarinet, in A or Bb, that sits nicely with the one we already have, would make the library even better. For unison lines, (again, for me that is not overly important,) but harmonies and independent solo lines would sound more realistic with two different instruments. And VSL is all about realism. They say so, anyway.

A somewhat smaller sample collection, like bassoon 2, would be sufficient.

Gaute

18.Second Clarinet 8/21/2013 6:54:16 PM

I don´t see any use for dimension woodwinds, but there is a sore need for a 2nd clarinet. And, while I´m at it, can´t VSL sample that wonderful C trumpet with a normal straight mute, instead of that do it yourself allpurpose bastard  they are so proud of?

19.Can VE4 and VE5 7/1/2013 9:04:32 AM

coexist on the same computer? Would be nice if they could, but it seems like VE5 overwrites the installation of VE4. Is that correct?

Best,

Gaute Storaas

20.Will there be some "Dimension Strings" ? 4/30/2012 8:33:50 AM

A 2nd Bb (or A) clarinet,  and C trumpet straight mute, would be additions to the library that I would be most happy with.

21.Trumpet Harmon Mute 4/21/2012 4:54:38 PM

This issue has been brought up from time to time. VSL has never commented on it, but i am quite sure that deep in their hearts they must know that omitting straight mutes i a library that is supposed to cover all aspects of orchestral sound reproduction is a grave mistake.

God only knows why it has not been dealt with.

22.Serious issue 2/11/2010 6:37:32 PM

 Sorry for the inconsistent terminology.

I meant that I have set up a playback config of wood+brass etc.

My Template, consiting of Vienna-presets (sibelius-optimised), is residing on my Vista slave. It loads and locally without problems.

I still think this problem is VSL related, because it does not happen with other configurations, to my knowledge, anyway.

What I want is to have Sibelius triggering the sounds of that VE template, just like any other sequencer would. It actuallu does just that, flawlessly, but when I quit Sibelius, my playback configuration, consisting of active devices, (midi ports in my case), and manual soundsets are gone when I launch it again.

What is remembered, though, is what soudset is assigned to which port, even if those ports are not remembered as active.

The manual soundsets (individual instrument assignment to each of the 16 channels within a port) are not remembered.

I have tried this with the Sibelus sound engine switched  both on and off (I would like to have it off).

I hope this explain things a little further,

Gaute

23.Serious issue 2/11/2010 3:53:11 PM

I am as confused as ever.

I am not using any special edition stuff, I have set up a template consisting of wood+brass, orc strings, harps and percussion, and it consistently diappear.

I guess I have to resort to typing the setup in every morning, I have lost too much time already. It' really annoying. Do you have any suggestions?

Gaute

24.Serious issue 2/11/2010 12:15:08 PM

Sorry for the late update, I had a deadline that forced me to leave my machines on for a few days.

I have done what you said, but I cannot get rid of the old soundsets. I saved them under new names, but now Sibelius is showing two identical soundsets of the same name, ie VE Woodwinds+brass, Even though I have deleted the one with fixed patchloading.  I have tried to trash the device log, but that destroys my MOL setup, so i had to put it back in. This is really weird, I have no idea where Sibelius is finding those deleted soundsets.. I would probably have saved a lot of time by just typing in my setup every morning, it just feels so wrong. When i open the plaback configuration xml file in text editor, it shows fixed patches all the way. It drives me nuts. Is there a to change the name of the soundset that comes up in the device dialog?

Gaute

25.Serious issue 2/8/2010 10:33:26 AM

 Hi.

There are several very good reasons why I want to use VEpro as standalone.

I do not need to save the big VE setup from my master computer, that is flawlessly saved locally. What I need to have saved is the playback config, consisting of choice of active devices (midi ports) and assigned manual soundsets. Is this impossible without a two-way communication with the slave? Does this mean that it is impossible to use the vienna soundsets on a slave running VE2? (which I would have used, if it had 3rd part support)? Does it mean that Sibelius is unable to save a config that utilizes old fashioned hardware samplers?

Maybe I should rather ask Sibelius about all this, sorry.

Best,

Gaute
