I will open a new ticket and try another round of support when I get a minute. It feels like it might be something specific to Logic, since I have moments where VEP VST in Bitwig can see the PC while AU in Logic can't.

Thanks Paul, I will load up the iMac then and offload to PC if it starts to struggle.

Also still having the same problems. Have been back and forth with VSL tech for months and they eventually gave assuming it was a conflict with a (then needed) wifi connection concurrently running.

Have since reconfigured 2 Macs and 1 PC all connected via hub (wifi off) and still problems. iMac slave shows most of the time, PC often not. I have noticed if I boot Logic and open a new project the PC is normally showing, however if I boot Logic straight into a current project then it doesn't. It's incredibly frustrating, but at least I have found the workaround of typing in the PC IP and instance name.

VSL - surely you have had enough of these reports since VEP7 to resolve the issue?

I'm just reconfiguring / reinstalling everything now I have a new iMac / 128GB / NVMe's alongside my 5 year old PC / 64GB / SSDs

I've just snapped up my first Synchron libraries (SS1 & SSP) and wondering if there's any reason to choose PC over iMac or vice versa for hosting in VEPro 7? 

Also while I'm here.. does anyone utilise any particular general strategy for deciding which libs gets hosted on what machine if you're running multiple VEPro licenses?

I'm pleased that VE Pro developement is moving ahead, but I'm really struggling to justify doing this upgrade.

I have plenty of workhorse eq / comp etc plugins so have no use for your new included ones. I already paid for Epic Orchestra in a previous VE Pro purchase. My old license allowed my to install on 2 machines (obviously the whole point of VE Pro, no? ), whereas now I have to pay for 2 licenses. So I am basically shelling out €120 so my instances can be diplayed down the left and for some minor under the hood refinements. I've been a loyal VE Pro user for many many years, and for a product that retails at €196 I feel like I'm being ripped off.

Do I need to upgrade to VE Pro 7 on both master and slave, or can I run 6 on my master and 7 on my slave?

Panic over, all sorted.. unistalled Java and reinstalled Play and everything back to normal.

PC noob here looking for some urgent help (on a deadline). I installed Java SE runtime environment 9 the other day in order to read my Mac HFS disks. Now I'm getting crashes when I load up my server projects. It seems the Kontakt stuff loads up ok, EastWest stuff is not. 

What is the quickest way to fix this? Can I just inistall the Java software and get back to where I was before? Or will that uninstall any previous Java installation required for normal operation? I did a backup of the Windows disk using Bvckup but have no idea how I can recover the image onto my PC's SSD.

VE Pro5 has started actiing weirdly. All the instances connected to my Logic project (on the same Mac Pro) hook up successfully on opening, the remaining unconnected ones do not appear in the available instances window unless I check the "Advertise on local network" setting. I don't want this checked since I have another separate machine working on different cues and I don't want them connecting to each other! What is going wrong? This happens on 64 and 32 bit servers.

Good shout Jay - are you able to give an indication of time scale or would you have to kill me?

Do we have any idea if / when Apple will address the dropped notes issue in Logic? I've got LASS 2 running on it (5 Kontakt instances) and the hanging notes make it unusable. I am about to go back to multiple instances, unless there is likely to be progress soon..?

Yes kontakt was definitely still looking at the old location (I left the library in its original place for backup).

Easy solution: move the libraries into another folder, wait for kontakt to say it can't find them, then point it to the new drive.

I've just installed an SSD and updated all the library paths in Kontakt. When I load a metaframe saved prior to the upgrade, will Kontakt load from the new library paths or do I have to manually load each instrument again?

I am thinking of getting a slave VE Pro host but need to be able to route it to both my main studio and programming room (two floors up). Running ethernet cable is going to be tricky. Anyone tried connecting a slave via powerline ethernet (the system that uses your home mains electrical wiring as a conductor)? Speeds of 200Mbps are apparently possible. Is this fast and reliable enough?

When Logic crashes it's always the whole lot you have to disconnect. Having to right-click - force disconnect - yes on 10+ instances is a right royal PITA.

Someone suggested to me I should keep it on in 64-bit mode, so I tried it and ended up with massive core overloads and audio dropouts. Switched it off again and all was fine. Can't think of anything else that might have caused the problem. So definitely OFF for me .

Sorry if I've missed this in other threads (can't find it anywhere), but can someone confirm whether VE Pro is due to be updated with the new features of VI Pro, or is VI Pro a separate upgrade that will operate within the VE Pro environment?

If VE Pro is going to be upgraded, when is this likely to happen?

In terms of updating our metaframes so our old Kontakt 3.5 / 4.0 multis load into VE Pro 64-bit, what is the best procedure for that? I'm assuming that I can't just load the 32-bit metaframe into the 64-bit server and expect it just to work? Equally if I save each of the 32-bit vframes I won't be able to load them into the 64-bit server? So do I have to go in and save each of the kontakt multis as .nkm files, load up a new instance of Kontakt 4.1 in VE Pro 64-bit, then reprogram all the multi-output routings?

Re point 2 - the only thing I can suggest is that you are trying to load a metaframe saved in a 32-bit VE Pro into a 64-bit VE Pro (or vice-versa)? Check the "32" / "64" at the end of the file extension.

Re point 4 - I have exactly the same problem and would love to know a fix. I have to bounce everything realtime, otherwise I get all sorts of pops and crackles throughout. Offline bounce has worked on previous (maybe smaller?) projects in the past, really not sure what has changed.

Or easier still, you just have to select New Project once you've closed the one you were working on, and the connections are all released.

Is the memory server option still available in Kontakt 4.1? I would have thought the 64-bit architecture would negate the need for it.

Same problem here - Nehalem 8-core 2.26 16GB. After a reboot things are generally ok, however I have found that certain Logic projects are susceptible to audio engine overloads after a period of time working on them. In fact I have noticed that the Logic project file sizes increase steadily each time I save - one 20 min cue ended up as 100MB last week, I couldn't hit play without the audio collapsing instantly. But then on a new save the size will drop to 50MB and it's playable again. Other big 16GB-maxed projects run without a hitch.

Looking at Logic CPU monitor all the overload activity is on the last 2 cores, however in Activity Monitor both 64 and 32 bit VE Pro instances remain at 100 - 120% even while Logic is stopped. Logic remains at around 50%. This is without a software instrument track as "midi thru" record enabled. I'm using around 8 frames of VSL, Kontakt 3.5 (4.1 upgrade tomorrow) and Omnishpere, with quite a few Altiverbs, EXSs, Plays etc in Logic.

Would sure love to find a checklist of buffer / settings / guidelines for getting a big template to run smoothly in Logic with VE Pro.

Just to confirm - you realise that these automation parameters control the faders in the VE Pro mixer, not the volume setting for each of the parts within Stylus / Omnisphere? "Ch2Vol" will control the 2nd fader from the left in the VE Pro instance connected to that plugin.

I had a good long think about how I was going to set up my template when moving to VE Pro, and while all my audio arrives back into Logic via auxes, I decided against controlling instrument volumes through them, instead opting to automate the VE Pro plugin parameters which route through to VE Pro fader levels etc. I chose this because:

- you can display the automation on the same Logic track as it's relevant MIDI regions in the arrange page - volume data is superimposed over the note information (which also saves hundreds of additional aux tracks in the arrange)

- when moving or copying regions the automation data stays with it (should you so choose)

Having instruments' volume etc recorded onto separate tracks to the MIDI seemed like a hassle for me. Obviously automation post arrival (Logic sends etc) has to be done via the auxes.
