1.New Piece. Vienna + EW Gold 11/1/2011 4:00:58 AM

I agree with bogdan as the dry VSL vs wet EW topic has been covered many times here on the VSL forums. It really does depend on the composer's preference I suppose. It sure doesn't hurt to have both libraries though. Smile But, you did a very good job on the piece you posted. Lots of texture, moods and dynamics. Well put together...

2.My new score in progress: Feedback appreciated ! :) 11/1/2011 3:51:23 AM

Nice work. It progresses along and makes good sense, and you pull in additional parts and build the song nicely. What else do you plan on doing to it?

3.My first theme made with Vienna 11/1/2011 3:42:39 AM

Very nice work. Thanks for sharing...

4.New orchestra peice with VSL... 11/1/2011 2:47:17 AM

Just thought I would share my latest VSL piece. I've had the VSL bundle for almost a year now and only have created about 4-5 songs with it. Work and school have kept me from my passions as of late. Stick out tongue Anyway, I'm still working on achieving the right space, reverb and ambience to get it sounding the way it really want... a work in progress, but I think I'm getting better. Any feedback or critique is welcomed.

Everything is from VSL except for the piano, which is Native Instruments "Alicia's Keys"

5.Silent Night arrangement I am working on for a Christmas CD. 11/1/2011 2:28:56 AM

Great composition and piano playing. One of my favorite traditional Christmas hymnals. Thanks for sharing...

6.A Symphonic Adventure - Tales of the Thorns 6/13/2011 11:55:09 PM

Very nice work, shows you just how far I have to go with my production skills... Also, congrats on the new album release...

7.First composition with VSL! 6/13/2011 6:12:30 AM

Thanks for the comments and thanks for the suggestion for using Vienna Ensemble. I hope to get a chance to work with it this coming week. I'm working on another song this week so I should get to try out some different methods and template setups.

8.Intro music for upcoming game 6/11/2011 12:29:38 AM

Great composition... Good mix and panning. I really can't find anything to improve upon... Nice job...

9.First composition with VSL! 6/4/2011 1:51:01 PM

No problem. Thanks for the clarification on that. I'll probably ask around on the Sonar forums to see if any of them have VSL and if they have figured out a way to use Vienna as multi-timbral. I may just not be setting up everything correctly. If not, the VE PRO server looks like something I may look into further down the road. Thanks again...

10.First composition with VSL! 6/3/2011 3:42:25 AM

Thanks for the feedback... I hear what you're talking about @ 1:33 & 1:44, the harmonics are harsh... I heard that today when I was listening to everything again... not sure how I missed that. Angry I'll have to find what instrument is causing that... I'm also going back to brighten up some parts of the mix as well.

Concerning the multi-timbral question... It's not that I think my computer will have a problem playing that many instances of Vienna, just asking if it was multi-timbral or not.  Just seems to be a more efficient way of working... a little less clutter... at least that's the way I'm used to working. So, can you play more than one instrument per instance of Vienna? Thanks for the reply.

11.First composition with VSL! 6/2/2011 6:03:14 PM

Ok, I just got VSL installed this past weekend and completed my first "short" piece with it. This is actually my first song recorded on my new computer and newly upgraded Sonar X1 Producer DAW (from Sonar 6 Studio) Recorded, mixed, and masterd in Sonar.  http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10707098 I'm sure you all won't be too impressed as I've heard some amazing compositions on here... I'm still learning. Smile  Please let me know your thoughts and feel free to offer any helpful critique or suggestions...

Only thing... can you use one instance of Vienna for mutliple instruments? (multi timbral) This song was only like 20-25 tracks, but some of my other songs are like 80-100 so I want to work as efficiently as possible. I tried loading what looks to be a limit of 12 in one instance of Vienna, but only one instrument is recognized even though I select the corresponding channel and routing info in Sonar to match each one. I apologize if this topic has been covered, just haven't been able to find any answers on this...

Thanks for listening and any advice or suggestions...

Best regards,

Joseph

12.New to VSL!!!! 5/31/2011 6:27:51 PM

Just got a chance to install Vienna and create my first piece this weekend and boy and I blown away! My absolute best work with Miroslav Philharmonik sounds like pure, 100% crap compared to the quality and realism of Vienna. And I only spent like and hour on this compared to hours upon hours trying to wring out the best of Miroslav... Seriously, it was difficult to listen to some of my old pieces, I think I'll be going back and redoing a lot of them with Vienna. Love this product!

13.New to VSL!!!! 5/26/2011 2:52:52 AM

Thanks for the welcome fellas...I'm going to try everything in Sonar X1, including its Sonitus and convolution reverb first to see how everything works and turn to Vienna's MIR and or Instruments PRO if I can't find a good workflow or sound with that.

And yes, I'm already drooling over Apassionata strings... I can see this is going to be a "problem"...

14.New to VSL!!!! 5/23/2011 5:43:19 PM
Hey guys, I just purchased the Vienna Special Edition Bundle from Sweetwater.com and I feel like a little boy on Christmas Eve! I’ve always coveted the VSL instrument library and I can finally afford to step into that realm. I'm moving up from Miroslav Philharmonik and though it was a fairly decent orchestral sampler for me as a beginner, I am ready to making some real quality orchestral compositions with a more realistic sampler and articulations. After much deliberation, many hours of YouTube tutorials and demos, forum reading, site research, and critical listening, I finally decided on Vienna. I actually ruled out East West Hollywood Strings pretty easily and it became more of a decision between LA Scoring Strings and VSL. I didn't see East West as a versatile sampler for smaller ensembles or more intimate compositions. It lacked a lot of articulations that VSL and LASS contained. And though LASS was a dream to listen to, the full version was a little out of my current price range and the bundle for the LITE and First Chair versions lacked the Divisi section (the meat of the software) Furthermore, LASS and East West are string samplers only while Vienna provides the full range of orchestral sections. I also love the fact that Vienna has such a huge library that I can continue adding components and special instruments. Anyway, I'll stop boring you gentlemen with the details for now, and look forward to sharing and learning from you guys in the future... 3 more days!....
