1.sibelius sound sets 11/9/2020 8:37:11 PM

Yes, just going back to Active and clicking on the Soundset column jarred something loose, and then the soundset list appeared. Sorry I got crabby, it was a long week in America. Turned out mostly okay. Huge relief to know you're working with the Dorico team.

Many thanks!

2.sibelius sound sets 11/8/2020 8:01:47 AM

I've installed all the things, and yet in the Sibelius Playback Devices dialogue there are no soundsets available to me. How do I get soundsets?

I am so sick of all the Sibelius problems. I am so sick of waiting for you to work with Dorico. I don't want to spend my time like this, struggling with broken, doomed software. If you're not going to work with Dorico I'll move on from you.

3.SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings Sibelius Sound Set and Cubase Expression Maps 3/10/2019 11:05:55 AM

You're right, I did conflate VI presets with Sibelius Soundsets. I was aware of the Synchron Player, but I couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting correct basic articulations in it, so I was grasping at straws.

The problem was the Program name/Sound IDs I had loaded in the Sibelius Playback Devices dialogue. I loaded Chamber Strings. You have to load Synchron Strings instruments.

And then everything works really well.

Thanks again for your time Andi,

Clare

4.SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings Sibelius Sound Set and Cubase Expression Maps 3/9/2019 1:09:08 PM

I'm trying to figure out how to use the Synchronized Chamber Strings with Sibelius (8). I did RTFM, but I still need help.

I've installed the latest Sibelius Soundsets. Clicking on the soundset normally loads the samples, but clicking on anything in the Chamber Strings menu just loads the soundset with red empty sample slots, because I don't have the original library. Is there supposed to be a *Synchronized* Chamber Strings option in this menu?

They sound great when loaded as a plugin, like Vienna Imperial, but they (obv) don't play back correctly in Sibelius. I can't figure how to use this library as instruments within VEP.

Thanks,

Clare

5."Synchron Library Installer" is ridiculously, brokenly slow 3/8/2019 11:33:29 AM

You're right, it's ExFat. It was working so well with my library I assumed everything was correct. Thanks.

6."Synchron Library Installer" is ridiculously, brokenly slow 3/8/2019 10:57:11 AM

I'm having this installation problem with Synchronized Chamber Strings.

The download files are on the destination disk, a Samsung T5 1TB which has ample room, and I've disabled all antivirus apps.

The installation hangs at 33% for about an hour, then clicks to 34, and stays there for...I don't know how long, but so far 8 hours.

Thanks for your time,

Clare

7.[SOLVED] Flugelhorn not downloading 8/7/2018 9:04:22 AM

Just downloading from the website. Working now.

Thanks!

8.[SOLVED] Flugelhorn not downloading 8/6/2018 6:44:27 AM

I just got a new SSD for my VSL, so I did fresh installs of all my libraries. 20 or so downloads were no problem, but Flugelhorn doesnt even start. Like, it doesnt even plant the destination folder for it to download to.

Don't worry about me, I'll be able to live my life without a virtual Flugelhorn. I just thought you'd want to know. Then again, if in three years some weird friend finds a Flugelhorn at a garage sale and wants a piece, I'll be posting HELP!!! FLUGELHORN NOT LOADING!

Also: I'm assuming I don't need to run the updates on these libraries, since I just did fresh installs. I wasn't even going to ask, but since I'm here...

Thanks for your time,

Clare

9.432 Hz 2/14/2016 12:57:48 PM

Would it be possible for the Imperial to be tunable down to A432 with an update? I keep hearing about the magic of this tuning, and I'm skeptical, but I'd like to try it. 432 is a thing. And more than any instrument I want to hear the piano at this tuning, because it's the biggest machine, has the most buttons, and makes the most sound. I'm surprised, actually that the Imperial isn't able to be tuned to quarter tones, because that would be useful too.  --432-Curious

10.MIR Pro, Imperial, and Sibelius 3/19/2015 1:10:10 PM

Perfect instructions as usual, Andi. Many thanks.

11.MIR Pro, Imperial, and Sibelius 3/19/2015 11:20:36 AM

I want to create a standard piano quartet metaframe to use with MIR Pro, Imperial, and Sibelius. Since I can't seem get a good Imperial sound in MIR, I want to use a setup from the 'Venue Presets' package and add the solo strings. (This should work, right?)

How do I open the presets in VEP *Server*, which I must use in order to connect with Sibelius? Or do I open the preset in VEP (not server) and export the settings to VEP Server, or some such thing?

Thanks,

Clare Farris

12.Sibelius 7.5 and VEP5 articulation problem 6/13/2014 11:30:55 AM
Now I've got everything working nicely by adding an extra violin on midi channel 1 to cover the vocal part, and bumping all the other instruments down one channel in both the VEP window and Sibelius Playback Devices. Thank you for your always prompt responses, Andi. --Best, Clare
13.Sibelius 7.5 and VEP5 articulation problem 6/13/2014 10:42:49 AM
I've sort of figured it out. Since you suggested re-adding a solo violin, copy-paste, etc., I tried just rebuilding the whole score, which led to being able to isolate the problem. It's a little complicated to describe. What I'm working on is a set of songs for solo vocalists with string trio, keyboard, and percussion. Since adding the Sibelius Player to the Sibelius Playback Devices window causes famous and ridiculous problems in the Sibelius Mixer, I wanted to just leave it out, and either not hear the robot vocalist or have it send the midi to a proxy instrument. Without the Sibelius Player in the setup it did send it to a proxy, which by default was the VSL violin. Somehow this interferes with the soundset of the actual violin part and is the cause of my articulation problems, because when the vocal is removed from the score the violin performs correctly. Also, when the Sibelius Player is added to the Playback setup, keeping the vocal part in the score, the violin problem disappears; but then you have the Mixer problem, because Sibelius wants to assign the keyboard and percussion to the Sibelius Player. For now I can work without the vocal part in the score, but at some point I'll want to hear the vocal part in the playback. --Best, Clare
14.Sibelius 7.5 and VEP5 articulation problem 6/12/2014 10:43:55 AM
I should add that the instruments I've chosen in Sibelius score setup are SOLO violin, SOLO viola, etc., and I'm using VSL House Style.
15.Sibelius 7.5 and VEP5 articulation problem 6/12/2014 10:40:32 AM
I've recently started using VEPro and I'm having one particular issue in all the various VEP setups I create: the solo violin doesn't respond to articulations in the score, or sound changes such as sul tasto/ponticello. *Only the violin.* Viola, cello, and bass, and other various keyboard or percussion instruments work just as they should. I'm using the latest solo strings Sibelius preset, v.2.8 (although I've tried the older ones still on my system, and they also don't work.) I haven't made any changes in the Sibelius mixer. When I revert to an ordinary Vienna Ensemble instance everything works fine, but I'd of course rather be able to use one single Pro setup. Thanks for your help!

16.Imperial not launching in Sibelius 3/2/2014 9:27:10 AM
Oh. It was hiding there, just with no sound loaded. That's what the "Show" button does, then. It now works by itself in a solo piano piece, but not in an ensemble piece. I want to use it with a string trio and percussion (all Vienna). Do I need to add it to a Vienna Ensemble instance? How do I load it? Imperial is not available as a preset (or in the Matrix or Patch window).

Thanks, Clare
17.Imperial not launching in Sibelius 3/2/2014 2:58:52 AM
The standalone works fine, but activating Imperial (VST or AU) in the Sibelius Playback Devices dialog does not create an instance of Imperial. Vienna Ensemble launches immediately upon activation, I would think it would be the same with Imperial. How do I get Sibelius talking to it?

Thanks, Clare
18.Vienna Imperial not available as a preset 3/2/2014 2:40:27 AM
Ah, yes. Thank you for your help. The manual is written from the perspective of a CD-ROM installation, in which case it would be obvious because there would be the software installer. It's less so with download installation, but still, duh. I now at least have the standalone working. I can't get it to launch in Sibelius, but I'll post my issue in the notation forum. Can't wait for the Steinberg/Sibelius thing to come out. Thanks again, and viva Detroit.

19.Vienna Imperial not available as a preset 3/1/2014 12:08:03 PM
I hope this isn't a dumb question. I just added Vienna Imperial--how do I launch it? Is it a different process than with any other VI? If it were, I reckon that would be mentioned in the manual. It's not available as a preset (or in the Matrix or Patch columns) with the other keyboards in Vienna Instruments Pro. Am I missing something? It occurred to me that maybe it wasn't being seen by the Directory Manager, but that seems unlikely because in adding Imperial I had to move my entire VSL library to a larger hard drive, and I rescanned the entire directory including Imperial (after it had been fully installed) at the same time. Everything is working except for Imperial, so the program is clearly pointed at the right drive. What am I missing?

Thanks,
Clare
20.Soprano sax getting "stuck" in certain articulations with Sibelius 1/17/2014 10:54:01 AM
Yup. I had made manual output and channel settings. All is well now. Thank you, Clare
21.Soprano sax getting "stuck" in certain articulations with Sibelius 1/17/2014 9:28:00 AM
I'm writing for saxophone sextet, one of each member of the family, but with two sopranos in my playback configuration, one standing in for sopranino. None of the other four instruments have this problem, but the soprano gets stuck playing particular articulations once it encounters them. The first time it happened it got stuck playing downward bend for each note, regardless of the notation, after I had written one in. After some fruitless investigating I tried restarting Sibelius and Vienna, and it seemed to be okay. I didn't want the bend there anyway, so I removed it and wrote in a few staccato notes. Now they (both sopranos) play everything staccato. After a restart they will play everything normally until they reach the staccato, and from there on it's all staccato. Again, just the sopranos, everyone else is fine.

I'm using all the proper sax presets for Sibelius in Vienna Ensemble; and the playback configuration in Sibelius is as it always is, VE Woodwinds + Brass soundset, manual soundset screen properly configured with correct channels, channels and output correctly assigned in the mixer, and VSL House Style in effect. I don't know what else to check.

Thanks,
Clare

Thanks for the replies, guys. Everything is working as it should be.

23.Saxophones Extended files 11/16/2013 1:06:40 AM
I just upgraded my saxophones to Level II. Is there anything else for me to download, or is it the case that the files are already on my hard drive, and with activation codes and Level II VI presets I'm good to go? I thought with Solo Strings I had to download more files, but maybe I misremember.

Best, Clare
24.Saxophone staccato (Sibelius) 10/29/2013 8:22:25 AM
That is exactly what I did. Everything works now. Thank you for your time and patience.

25.Saxophone staccato (Sibelius) 10/27/2013 6:43:54 AM
Still not working, because the new sound sets don't appear as an option in the pop up menu in the Sibelius Playback Devices window. I copied "D57 Soprano Sax" (and the other sax files), to the Sibelius Sounds folder, the same folder where the (working) sound sets for my Vienna Solo Strings live, and restarted, rebooted, repaired permissions, but Sibelius doesn't seem to see it. I wonder whether their being .fxp files is something to do with it? The working sound sets are .xml files, and the Sibelius documentation only mentions .xml sound set files.

Best, Clare
