1.VEPro 6 Update 5/12/2019 8:46:11 AM

I had a problem of opening Cubase projects on both C10 and 9.5, latest versions on Win10. I narrowed the problem down to VEP. I had this problem with the two of the latest VEP6 updates. Rolling back to 6.0.17226 fixed it.

2.Cubase 10 Real-Time peaks/dropouts with VEP instrument tracks connected to a slave 1/19/2019 2:03:10 AM

I and other folks over at the vi-control forum are having some strange random real-time peaks and dropouts by record enabling and playback Vienna Ensemble Pro 6 instrument tracks in new Cubase 10 connected to a slave. The peak meter ranges are going from around 10% to 100%, very unstable, jerking up and down during playback of a very light project, never mind if those tracks have anything to play or not, it peaks as long as they are record enabled.

With VEP buffer set to 2, real-time peak jumps are small enough not to cause the dropouts, but they are there. But as soon as I change the buffer to 1, it starts to jump full scale, from very a minimum (as I have only one track loaded in the project) to a full tilt, totally random. However, there is no such behavior on Cubase 9.5 with either buffer setting.

Loading the same library in VEP locally on the master PC doesn't introduce any problems with C10, only via Ethernet, streaming from a slave. Tried with two different slaves and have the same issue with both.

I lost days troubleshooting to finally go back to Cubase 9.5 as there are no such problems with the previous version.

LatencyMon doesn't show the problem. I tried many things, both vep vst3 and vst2, AG on/off, fresh win install, different video drivers (AMD), pref rebuild (this introduced even more peaks), couldn't find anything locally related to the problem.

Despite an obvious difference in performance between C10 and C9.5, it was sudgested to me to make a thread here as well in case there is something you guys can do.

Thank you.

3.A problem with VEP MIDI focus 8/3/2018 12:48:17 PM

Hello all,

I'm using VEP software for a few years now and never had any problems, until now.

My problem is, instances with MIDI activity keep raising what ever settings I choose.

As I was messing with "Activate window on MIDI activity focus" feature on my master and 2 slaves, I finally decided to go without it, BUT, the feature somehow stuck on my master and it keeps happening since. I keep trying to troubleshoot with choosing different GUI settings, as well as settings on the VEP plugin itself, but can't turn it off. I even tried uninstalling VEP, as well as deleting ALL VSL folders I could find (User folders), but it's still happening.

As you can imagine, it's a quite a problem as I can't edit my other instruments while listening the playback cause instances keep switching.

I'm running latest 6.0.17011 VEP version, Cubase 9.5.3, Win 10.

Thanks

Milos
4.VE Pro audio muting when switching tracks in Cubase Pro 8 2/21/2016 5:49:39 PM

Hey pacman, thx for reply,

So, how do you workaround the issue with asio guard 2? Do you disable it, or go for the low settings? Is there any difference between the two? Or did you go back to C7.5 maybe? On the forums people say that C7.5 is probably a better option for now.

I accually realised that I need vepro either way, as in, if I option for a hardware I/O I certainly need some host on the slave machine. But for now, I work with the asio guard on low.

5.VE Pro audio muting when switching tracks in Cubase Pro 8 2/21/2016 3:22:31 AM

Hey everyone,

Just did the upgrade to my studio, one machine wasn't enough anymore...Bought a new master, old one is slave now...got the vep5, made the template, got the issues... And now stumbled on these threads and got very disapointed.

For years I am hearing about wonderfull world of vep and cubase, and now when I finally got into it only to find this...

I am thinking of returning vep5, still got 10 days left for that.

What would you guys do in my place? To install C7.5 and use it with vep5? Or return it and maybe connect two PCs via audio interfaces? Via Adat/spdif/light-pipe...don't know much about those things...but I have rme hdspe aio on master rig and hdsp 9632 on the slave.

Hope this vep5/asioguard2 issue will be resolved soon, as I really like vep5 and whole idea.
