Yes latest builds are useless over here (Mac though). Use either the build from 2020 (1056) or the one from earlier in Nov 2021 (1113) if you can. They should be in the downloads archive section. I would try 1056 first. 

This old 1113 build has worked ok for me. But it is creating the same crashing for my collaborator on his system... but he downgraded from 1120, and I upgraded from 1056... so currently trying to figure out if that is why it's not working for him by reverting to 1056 first and then moving to 1113. 

Any news on chasing this down, VSL? this is a bad one! probably the worst I've seen in my 10+ years of using VEP. 

Finally heard from support that this is a known issue and the only thing we can do is roll back to the previous version in the archived downloads (May 2020 I think). hopefully it is sorted soon. 

This is happening to me too! VEP is nearly unusable since updating to the November '21 release. I haven't been able to get any answers from support yet. I'm using Pro Tools, Logic, Studio one... same story with all DAWS... and also happens if it's kontakt inside Vienna or spitfire player... doesn't seem specific to any loaded plugins. rolling back a version does remove the grey box issue but there were some things fixed for Studio One that I lose... and its still a bit crashy when changing parameters in kontakt within Vienna even on the last version. I had been going for years with no issues basically. I wonder what happened. Catalina 10.15.7 here. no new updates on my end. 

figured this out, i missed clicking the "lock" icon in the plugin... I've been using VEP since version 1 don't ever remember doing this, I think some graphics or defaults changed since v5. anyway, all good!

I pulled up a local instance of VEP 6 for the first time in a long while (have otherwise been using a slave machine for years)... I have it decoupled in the plugin, but this instance still closes down when I close my Pro Tools 2018.12 session. What step am I missing to keep the instance open so that it may connect to the next session I open (but still decoupled?). To decouple I am making sure the small cycling arrows plus ! icon is lit in the plugin. Thanks for any insight!

So I'm just getting deeper into V Inst Pro...  I'm noticing that if I turn on Vel XF for one matrix it is also on for the other.  I like to organize long notes in one matrix, shorts in another... but I don't want my short notes to Vel XF...  is it possible to have a different setting for each?  Thanks.

I would love to see meta frame auto save.  i can not even count the number of times I've lost detailed work in Kontakt Multis from a VEP crash.  i know i know save save save...  but the autosave in Pro Tools has made me lazy.  (i run decoupled when I use VEP)

Do you use 2C Audio plugins by any chance?

If so try removing them from your VST plugins folder (as in putting the plugin files somewhere else temporarily) and launch again.

Bummer, hopefully they get that sorted soon.  i had a few crashes today also...  they all seem GUI related... clicking around doing something in the interface seems to trigger the crash.  BUT it was a huge step up from NOT opening my mframes at ALL.  So thanks VSL for getting the update out quickly.

update...  installing older NON-AAX version from last december and then running the .12784 installer worked.  My viennaensemblepro.aax is back.  I would also like my 3 hours back however.  

update...  it seems that the latest installer adds it but crashes on open and the one previous REMOVES it but will open and let me open my mframes.  hoping i can find someone to email me the file and it will work...   is the installer broken then?  I'm watching the folder as it installs and it literally just erases the AAX plugin and does not put anything back in its place.  PT users beware!

I unsucessfully installed the latest VEP version (instant crashing on opening mframes) and am trying to revert back to last version.  Install goes through fine, but REMOVES the VEP AAX plugin from the avid plugin folder.  WHy would it do that?  The latest version indeed puts it back (took a number of tries), but I don't want that version obviously.  Any one have any thoughts?  I can't go back further because I'm using it with Pro Tools 11.  Why isn't there a larger archive available?  is it there and I'm missing it?

Ok third reinstall seems to have added the plugin back to the avid aax folder.  Weird!   PLEASE vsl, make stability a top priority on MAC....  It is currently my most unstable piece of software.  But so Vital!  I have do a little prayer everytime I do anything in an instance :)

Also having a very crashy experience with VEP5...  AND i just updated to the latest version and my AAX64 VEP plugin is gone!  (and this was after touble shooting why it would not open my latest mframe).  How do I get it back?  reinstalling it is not adding it to the avid pro tools plugin folder and my sessions are not finding it.  Man this program used to be so stable....more stable than any of my other software.    What happened?  is it a mountain lion issue?  

Where are preset files I save located on the Mac?  Can't seem to find them after a search...  i wish to share a preset so I need access to the file.  Thanks!

I would love to see some rudimentary input MIDI processing integrated into VEP.  things like transforming cc's, MIDI channel switching by program change, and so forth.  I know these kinds of things can be done with third party utilities like transmidifier or bidule... but to use these programs one really must use the external MIDI ports... which removes the ability to use offline bounce and plugin delay compensation.   Perhaps a per port MIDI plugin or something like that...   could be a separate window...

I'm trying to experiment with MIDI over LAN on my Win7 slave and I can't get the ports for MOL or ipMIDI to show up in VEP.  The ports are functional and do show up on my mac system and communicate with eachother via the monitoring app just fine.  But the external ports pref window is blank in VEP prefs.  lots of restarts... config options...etc...  anyone know why this might not be working?  They are also not showing up in the stand alone version of VEP either.  Thanks!

EDIT:  i was using remote desktop and sound must be set to "Play sounds on remote windows system" in order for the MIDI ports to show up.  Working now!

I see this behavior also.  Using Kontakt 4 or 5 only.

Ok I have reverted now to the previous VEP 5 Build and this problem has gone away.  Was really looking forward to the multiport Logic thing but I think I need my VEP kontakt 5 presets to work more than I need the ports.  Looking forward to the next build.
