1.A little piece on the Synchron Steinway D 2/19/2019 2:25:43 PM

It sounds great, are you using the standard or the full library? :-)

2.Possible to have trade-in upgrade program? 2/16/2019 3:33:37 PM

Hi there

I have the Yamaha CFX full library and just realized that the Steinway came out. Would it be possible to buy the Steinway at a cheaper price with the CFX traded in? It would be a great service :-)

Have a nice day!

3.[SOLVED] CFX wont show my user presets 7/3/2018 10:13:27 AM

Ah..found a way - you have to point at the directory where it made the folder VSL. :-)

4.[SOLVED] CFX wont show my user presets 7/3/2018 10:10:32 AM

Hi everybody

In order to try to optimize my library I copied all my files to my external SSD drive, and changed the locations in Database-settings, but now it wont show my user presets, even though its ponting in the right directory.
Ive also tried to use the old locations but with no luck..

Have any of you tried that, how can I have my presets back? :-)

5.CFX for live use...optimization!? 7/1/2018 5:22:09 PM

Ah maybe that could be an option.

My "Default Preload size" was set to 4096, should I just max it out? Im having the files locally on my SSD drive.
What about "Streming Threads" and "Loading Threads", they are both at 4. Would I gain something by raising those too? :-)

Thanks for your answer!

6.CFX for live use...optimization!? 7/1/2018 1:04:10 PM

Hi,

Im using the Yamaha CFX for live concerts, and have made a sound using Close 1, Close 2 and the Sorround microphone. Im using Ableton Live Lite as a host, and have set the buffer for 256.

I have the latest Macbook pro 15" with touchbar, 2.9GHz core i7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, and while playing I have an user-account on my mac with only Ableton Live opened so it can use all its power for the piano samples.
I use an apollo twin sound interface for the outputs.

The last two nights I was gigging with my latin band, and the first night there was some serious dropouts in some of my solos when I was playing the most. So for the 2nd set I put the buffer for 512 and that helped but made a tiny bit of latency that made it annoying to play with.

Before the second gig I looked at the problem and found that it helped to turn down the "Max Voices / Mic", so I turned it down from 128 (defaullt) to 52. And tested it at home and I was able to hold down the pedal and slide my hands up and down with no problems.. But in the nighs gig it, once agin, dropped out, so I disabled the Sorround mic to play the rest without dropouts - but with a less enjoyable sound.

Do you have any suggestions for me to lower the cpu-load and keep from having the glitches and dropouts? Or should I sell my Kawai VPC1 and buy a stagepiano with built-in sounds again?

Thanks in advance, :-)
Theo

7.Yamaha CFX - lets share presets! 6/19/2018 7:22:29 AM

Yeah!! I dont know if youve seen it, but in the new release you can make the sound more dry.

Ive made two presets Im using now, one for recording and one for live-performances with less microphones to make sure that there isnt any pops and glitches. Feel free to download, tweak and use them as you like :-)

Have a nice day!

8.Yamaha CFX with Kawai VPC1 6/18/2018 8:36:40 AM

Im using the Pianoteq settings in the VPC Editor, and have created some samples I use, I have two versions - one for live use and one for recording. The live one uses less microphones so I wont have any glitches when playing wild :-)

You can use them if you like. Im using them for rythmic music, jazz, salsa, gospel etc.

9.Yamaha CFX - lets share presets! 6/1/2018 5:21:11 PM

Just put the preset file in the folder with your other presets, I think theyre normally in a subfolder to youre sample-files :-)

And then they will show up in the player between your own presets.

10.Yamaha CFX - lets share presets! 5/27/2018 3:01:58 PM

Unfortunately its not allowed to attach the files directly, so Ive put them inside a .zip file. :-)

11.Yamaha CFX - lets share presets! 5/27/2018 3:00:00 PM

Hi everybody,

Im the happy owner of the Yamaha CFX full library, and are using it for my live gigs.
So far I have made two presets that I use;

1: SALSA LIVE - for playing my salsa/timba/latinjazz gigs, Im pretty happy with the feel, sound and blending of this preset. (Close 1, Close 2, Mid 1)

2: JAZZ LIVE - for my bigband/jazzgroup gigs. Im quite happy with it, but its not totally there yet.. Maybe some of you can try it and tweak it. Im not a sound engineer so I dont have the skills of knowing exactly where to turn the knobs to make it sound better, Im just trying small things here and there.. ;-) (Room-Mix, Close 1, Close 2, Mid 1)

Feel free to take my presets and use them as you like, and upload your own here!

By the way, Im using KAWAI VPC1 and the Pianoteq velocity preset in the VPC Editor.

Have a nice sunday out there :-)
Greetings from Denmark!

12.Yamaha CFX Standard vs full for live 5/11/2018 10:34:06 AM

Thanks!

Ive made this now, I think it sounds good for cutting thru and still have some body, do you have some suggestions for tweaking it further? :-)

13.Yamaha CFX Standard vs full for live 5/11/2018 9:32:45 AM

Is it possible to get a more dry sound?

Ive tried to turn the reverb down to -inf, and only use one of the Close mics, and even with that there is quite a lot of room..Im afraid that it will make the sound dissappear in a salsa setting with timbales, congas, bongos, guiro, horns, etc.. :-)

14.Directory Manager!? 5/9/2018 12:09:21 PM
Perfect, thanks for your quick reply :-)
15.Directory Manager!? 5/9/2018 11:56:40 AM
Okay :-)
Im thinking about the updates you make in the sample, if you fix bugs or make new presets etc.
How do I update my sample library to have the latest features?
16.Directory Manager!? 5/9/2018 10:08:49 AM

Hi

Im reading that in case that I need to update my sample library I just have to open the Directory Manager, but I cant find it in my mac and I cant find it in the download section either? Where do I find it?  :-)

I have the Yamaha CFX standard library installed (and have just bought the full)

Thanks in advance

17.Yamaha CFX Standard vs full for live 5/8/2018 12:26:52 PM

That would be amazing :-)

Jazzgroup could be one

Latin could be another one - with a bit sharper shape to get thru with tumbaos

I think that these kinds of presets would make the sample even more attractive for rhytmic musicians as myself :-)

18.Yamaha CFX Standard vs full for live 5/8/2018 11:31:43 AM

Thanks for your reply Paul, and thank you for the welcome :-)

I might buy the full version then.. Is it possible that there will come some presets more suitable for playing in fx rhytmic small-group settings out of the box?
The presets there is now are nice, but all have too much reverb and are too wet for that. Of course I can sit and correct the things myself but its always nice with presets made by professionals so that I know that it will blend nice with the rest of the group :-)

If not, do any of you out there have some nice presets for that you would like to share? :-)

19.Yamaha CFX Standard vs full for live 5/8/2018 9:38:40 AM

Hi

Ive bought the Yamaha CFX Standard for use for live gigs.
Im playing mostly salsa, latinjazz, jazz, gospel and that kind of rhythmic music, and I cant deside if I should upgrade, and pay the €165 for having the full library?

Im especially thinking about the second close microphone that looks nice.

Any thoughts you want to share with me? :-)

Have a nice day everyone ! :-)
