The library combines the full sample content of the previously available BBO Packs Hercules (Low Brass), Izar (Low Brass Clusters), and the über-large brass ensembles of Zodiac (Supermassive Ensembles). BBO Brass delivers a staggering array of orchestral brass might in one easily accessible package and provides instant access to the unmistakable force and brilliance of Vienna’s renowned brass sound.
The Precision Presets discussed in this document are what you already know if you own other VSL libraries. As opposed to our new Flow Presets, they allow you to explore the depths of the library, adjusting and tweaking parameters as you see fit. Here you can also create presets of your own and adapt them to your workflow.
Welcome to the Vienna Symphonic Library's series of Synchron Instruments! As the name says, Big Bang Orchestra furnishes you with a selection of full-orchestra articulations, at the same time allowing you (if you haven't done so already) to explore our powerful Synchron Player software. If you're looking for that extra dramatic effect or want to highlight a passage in your composition, this bonus library could be the solution, or at least point you in the right direction.

There are three types of Precision Preset: In “VelXF sus - MOD” presets, velocity crossfading is activated for long notes, so that marcato intensity is controlled with the Modwheel (MIDI CC 1). In “VelXF – MOD”, it is activated in general, and in “Velocity” presets, keystroke velocity controls marcato intensity.

These presets furnish you with the raw power of low brass instruments. Basic articulations and their types can be changed with keyswitches. For some Types, there are variants with and without contrabass tuba.
The basic cluster articulations are the same as the regular ones, but without contrabass tuba variants, and instead of the legato section (which doesn’t make much sense with clusters) there is a duplicate of the long notes. You can switch between the articulations of different presets without having to adapt any keyswitches. The upper range of cluster articulations is a whole tone lower than regular ones, as the two highest notes are always part of a cluster.
Range: G1–E4 (glissandos less according to interval)

Marcato attack can be added gradually to the basic articulation with the help of MIDI CC 3.

Type: C6–D6

Staccato repetitions at 120, 140, and 160 BPM. These are already prepared for timestretching, i.e., all Patches have the original tempo they were recorded with entered as their source tempo. This allows you to adapt your repetitions automatically to the tempo of your project with only two mouse clicks.
Tempo: C6–D6

Glissandos, minor and major second, and fourth, up and down. Please note that the actual playing range is diminished by the glissando interval – for instance, minor 2nd upward glissandos can only be played up to D#4 where E4 is the target note, downward ones down to G#1 where G1 is the target note.
Interval: C6–D6
Up/down: A0/B0

This combined preset offers an additional Dimension for crossfading between regular and cluster articulations with the help of MIDI CC 3, so that you can determine the strength of cluster tones added to the base note. Apart from that, the preset has the same layout as the Low Brass preset, but without the contrabass tuba option.
Cluster XF: Dim.Ctrl/A (MIDI CC 3)

This small but special preset features long notes and legato articulations, both with regular and soft release.
Range: A4–F5
Keyswitches
Articulation: C1/C#1
Type: C2/C#2
